How it works?

The Complete Process

1. COMPLETE A 40 HOUR SECURITY LICENSE TRAINING PROGRAM WITH A FIRST AID AND CPR CERTIFICATION

If you are looking to become a Security Guard in Ontario, you will need to complete a training course. Once you’ve completed the training course, you’ll be able to register for the Ontario Security Guard Licence Exam.  The requirement for all basic training courses is that they must be at least 40 hours long and include certification in first aid. You must have a valid first aid and CPR certification in order to apply for a security guard license. The minimum accepted level of first aid training is Emergency Level First Aid and Level A CPR (1 day of training).

2. GET YOUR TRAINING COMPLETION NUMBER (TCN)

This number will be given to you upon completion of the 40 hour security guard training course by National Security Services. You will need it to register for the mandatory Security Guard Exam.

3. REGISTER TO AND PASS THE SECURITY GUARD TEST

The Ministry of the Solicitor General regulates Ontario's private security industry with an aim to ensure work is carried out professionally, effectively, safely, and lawfully. On behalf of the Ministry of the Solicitor General, Serco Canada Inc. administers security guard tests at DriveTest Centres across the province.

After completing the 40 hours training course and receiving the Training Completion Number applicants can register to write the Security Guard License exam on Serco’s website or by clicking below.
